Last year, Flock Theatre announced the
start of their SAVE A.R.T. (Actors Reinventing Theatre) campaign, an
initiative designed to bring students to see their school-time
performances of Macbeth in late October and Of Mice and Men in
November.
This program succeeded in bringing over 2000 students to these shows, giving
most of them their first exposure to live theatre. |

|
This year, Flock Theatre is once again seeking
individuals, businesses and corporations to help in this campaign. |

|
|
For the past five years, Flock Theatre has been
providing opportunities to local students to see Flock’s classical
productions (productions which often tie in directly with school curricula)
at low cost. These productions have been great successes and have been met
with accolades from students and school officials alike.
However, in the current economic climate, many students and schools still
find it too costly to attend these performances. School districts across
the region are finding it harder and harder to meet the ever-increasing
demands placed on them, all the while needing to find new ways to keep their
students interested in their subjects. |
| |
|
|
Flock Theatre is therefore
taking the initiative to help expose these students to the works of
Shakespeare at no cost to either the students, or their district. But they
need the help of community members to make this happen. For
the cost of a mere $10 per student—the price of a movie ticket—local student
will get the chance to see the glory and pageantry of Shakespeare the way it
was meant to be seen: live and in person, while for $250, a person or
business can sponsor an entire class. Anyone wishing to donate can send his
or her tax-deductible donation to SAVE A.R.T. c/o Flock Theatre, 10
Prospect Street, New London, CT 06320. Please make checks payable to Flock
Theatre. |
