A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Adapted for the stage by Josh Rice
Performances December 2025
A new adaptation of Dicken’s classic holiday tale featuring a small cast of 3-4 performers, a brisk pace, and puppets galore. A perfect style for Flock’s first Dickensian foray in many years.

Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen
Performance dates TBD
Flock seeks to continue its exploration of the Norwegian playwright’s classic works after successful runs of Hedda Gabler (2025) and Peer Gynt (2023). Ghosts is the story of a mother and son who wrestle with the sins of a father and the harsh judgement of society that surrounds them.

The Walls by Griselda Gambaro
Performance dates TBD
A young man is held captive in a room where nothing is what it seems or what he’s told it is. An allegorical play, ripe for our times, by a lauded Argentine playwright whose work concerned events in her country’s political and military turmoil in the 70’s-80’s.

Each show features a small cast of characters and Flock will employ their signature style of intimate, small venue theatre to bring the different styles of plays to life.

ROLE BREAKDOWN

*Age ranges refer to the character’s age, not the actor’s actual age.*

A Christmas Carol

3-4 performers total who act as narrators and characters. The three main ghosts are done as puppets and characters other than Scrooge are played by 1-2 performers in a stylized character manner to distinguish between them.

Scrooge- male, middle/older-middle age range
A harsh crumudgen who is forced to examine his life and ways and has a vast change of heart. The only actor to remain the same character throughout the play.

Puppeteer(s)- gender flexible, various ages mid-20s+
The various ghosts of past, present, future and a few small characters, done in a variety of puppet styles: tabletop, over-lifesized, rod, and shadow. Most puppets are one-person puppets. Both manipulation and voice needed.

Actor(s)- gender flexible, various ages mid-20s+
Playing all the other characters such as Fred, Bob Cratchit, the ghost of Marley, Fezziwig, Belle, Solicitor and various voices. May assist in some puppetry.

An old friend of Helen Alving and a man who staunchly upholds societal and religious norms but is also very easily swayed by public opinion.
